What to expect from Harvey storage
Most of the facilities here are self storage yards that also rent RV spaces, so you get the same gate and camera setup as the indoor units. Four of the six are open 24 hours, which helps if you roll in late after a trip. Ratings are strong: Mini Mall Storage - Harvey has a 4.9 from 577 reviews, and Public Storage and The Storage Center New Orleans - Harvey also sit at 4.9. That tells you people are generally happy with access and cleanliness. The trade-off is that outdoor spots dominate, so sun and rain will work on your rig unless you book covered or indoor.
Covered, indoor, or out in the open
Covered spots keep the worst of the UV and hail off the roof and are the middle ground for most owners. Indoor bays give you full protection and are worth it if you have a classic or a rig you don't use often. Outdoor is the cheapest and easiest to find, but you'll want to wax the roof and check seals a couple times a year. CubeSmart Self Storage offers covered spots and is gated with cameras. Mini Mall Storage - Harvey covers all three types, including climate control, if you want options in one place.
Practical notes before you sign
Check gate hours against your usual arrival times, even at the 24 hour places, because office hours are separate. Ask what the wash bay situation is if you like to rinse off after a trip; U-Haul has a wash on site. For outdoor spots, a battery maintainer and a good cover are cheap insurance against a dead start in spring. Also confirm what your RV insurance says about stored vehicles, since some policies want the rig exercised or the battery disconnected. Nearby Westwego and Marrero are close if Harvey lots are full.
