Outdoor RV Storage in Newport News, VA

What outdoor storage here looks like

Outdoor means your rig sits on pavement or gravel under open sky, which is the cheapest way to keep it out of the street. Of the 8 facilities in Newport News, 4 also offer covered spots and 7 have indoor units, so you can compare all three at once. If sun and UV wear worry you, covered is the middle step between open air and a building. Ask each facility about the ground surface and drainage before you commit, since low spots hold water after heavy rain. Seven of the eight facilities advertise 24/7 gate access. Confirm the hours yourself before you sign, because gate schedules change.

Devon Self Storage Newport News carries a 4.9 rating from 494 reviews and handles covered, indoor and outdoor parking, with boat space too. Three Public Storage locations also rate well: one at 4.9 with 295 reviews offering gated, lit, boat and 24/7 access, one at 4.8 with 483 reviews, and one at 4.7 with 423 reviews that is gated and lit. A fourth Public Storage at 4.7 with 383 reviews is outdoor only. Read recent reviews for gate condition and lot upkeep, not just the star count.

Before you park it

Outdoor storage in this part of Virginia means humidity, summer storms and winter damp. A breathable cover beats a tarp that traps moisture, and tire covers slow sidewall cracking. Pull the battery or put it on a maintainer, and top off the fuel with a stabilizer if the rig will sit a while. Check that your insurance covers the rig at a storage address, not just at home. Ask whether the lot is gated and lit, and walk it at night if you can. Clear gutters and vents so water does not pool, and visit monthly to check for leaks.
