What to Expect
With five facilities in Camden and about a dozen more nearby, you have choices, but not all are equal. Four of the five allow 24-hour access, which is handy for early departures or late returns. Only one offers covered storage, so if you want a roof over your rig, call ahead. Ratings run from 2.3 to 4.5 stars, so read recent reviews before committing. Storage Wise of Camden I and II both earn solid marks and provide 24-hour access, while MyPlace Self Storage locations add gated entry and cameras. A1 Mini Storage has few reviews, so inspect it in person.
Covered vs. Outdoor
Covered storage is scarce here, with just one facility offering it. That leaves most Camden RV owners parking outside. Outdoor storage is fine if you take a few precautions. Sun and UV wear on tires, seals, and gel coat add up over time, so use tire covers and a breathable cover. Hail is a risk in South Carolina, so check whether your spot has any overhead protection. For longer stays, consider a battery maintainer and winterizing if you store through cold snaps. Always confirm gate hours and security features like cameras and lighting before you sign.
Choosing a Spot
Start by measuring your rig, including slides and tongue, then match it to the space size. Visit in person to check the ground surface and drainage. Ask about insurance requirements and whether the facility requires proof of coverage. Compare access hours: 24-hour entry is common here, but confirm it applies to RV storage. Look for lighting and cameras if you'll be arriving after dark. Storage Wise of Camden I and II are good starting points, and MyPlace Self Storage on the south side offers gated access. Read reviews for patterns about maintenance and management responsiveness.
